DripDrop is formulated around the glucose-to-sodium ratio that makes oral rehydration solutions work, rather than around the higher carbohydrate load of a sports drink. The result is a product that is deliberately lower in both sodium and sugar than an athletic mix, because maximising fluid absorption and maximising energy delivery are different goals.

At 330 mg of sodium and 7 g of sugar in 8 fl oz, the concentration matters more than the absolute numbers. Mixed into a smaller volume, it reaches the ratio it is aiming for.

The small mixing volume is a genuine feature

Eight ounces rather than sixteen sounds like a minor detail until you are nauseated. When you can barely face drinking anything, a smaller glass you can actually finish beats a large one you abandon halfway.

It also includes zinc and vitamin C, which is a reasonable inclusion for a product aimed at illness rather than exercise.

Where it loses out

If you are using it for athletic sweat replacement, 330 mg per serving is modest — you would need two or three to match one LMNT stick, and the sugar adds up with them.

It is also more expensive per serving than the pharmacy oral rehydration sachets that do fundamentally the same job. What you are paying for is that it tastes considerably better, which is not nothing when the alternative is not finishing the glass.

Is DripDrop better than Pedialyte?

They target the same problem from different directions. Pedialyte has decades of clinical use behind its formulation and, in the AdvancedCare Plus sticks, roughly double DripDrop’s sodium; DripDrop is milder and mixes into a smaller glass, which matters when you are struggling to finish anything. For a child or an older adult under clinical guidance, Pedialyte is the more established choice.

Can I use DripDrop for exercise?

You can, but it is not optimised for it. At 330 mg of sodium per 8 oz serving you would need several to cover heavy sweat losses. Products built for that job — LMNT, Redmond Re-Lyte — deliver it in one.

Why does DripDrop contain sugar?

Because the sugar is the mechanism. Glucose and sodium are absorbed together via a shared intestinal transporter, and that co-transport pulls water with them. A sugar-free oral rehydration solution would not work the same way.
